Checking Oil Level in Hydraulic Reservoir
Figure 4.5: Oil Level Sight Glass
1.
Check oil level using lower sight (A) and upper sight (B)
with cutterbar just touching the ground.
NOTE:
Check level when oil is cold and with center-link
retracted.
2.
Ensure oil is at appropriate level for terrain as follows:
•
Hilly terrain (C):
Maintain level so lower sight (A) is
full, and upper sight (B) is up to one-half filled.
•
Normal terrain (D):
Maintain level so lower sight (A)
is full, and upper sight (B) is empty.
•
Level ground (E):
For slopes of 6° or less, oil level
may be kept slightly lower if desired. Maintain level
so lower sight (A) is one-half filled or slightly higher.
Figure 4.6: Oil Level Sight Glass
3.
Maintain level for normal terrain (D) so lower sight (A) is
full, and upper sight (B) is empty.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to slightly reduce oil level when
ambient temperatures are above 35°C (95°F) to prevent
overflow at breather when normal operating
temperatures are reached.
