Header Operating Variables
Satisfactory function of the header in all situations requires making proper adjustments to suit various crops and
conditions. Correct operation reduces crop loss and increases productivity. Proper adjustments and timely maintenance will
increase the length of service you receive from your machine.
The variables listed in Table
(and detailed on the following pages) will affect the header performance.
You will quickly become adept at adjusting the machine to achieve the results you desire. Most of the adjustments have
been preset at the factory, but the settings can be changed to suit crop conditions.

3.7.1
Cutting Height
The D65 Draper Header is capable of cutting the crop to a desired stubble height or cutting as close as possible to the
ground. Cutting height will vary depending on the type of crop, crop conditions, etc.
3.7.2
Cutting off the Ground
Cutting height is controlled using a combination of the windrower header height control and a stabilizer wheel system (or
stabilizer/slow speed transport wheel system).
The stabilizer wheel system in both options is designed to minimize bouncing at the header ends and float the header to
achieve an even cutting height when cutting above ground level in cereal crops. The system produces even stubble height
and greatly reduces operator fatigue.
The stabilizer wheel system (or stabilizer/slow speed transport wheel system) is available only for 9.1

headers.
Adjusting Stabilizer/Slow Speed Transport Wheels
A properly adjusted header will achieve a balance between the amount of header weight carried by the float and the
amount carried by the stabilizer/slow speed transport wheels.
DANGER
To prevent bodily injury or death from the unexpected start-up of the machine, always stop the engine and remove the
key from the ignition before leaving the operator
’
s seat for any reason.
1.
Raise the header so the stabilizer wheels are off the ground.
2.
Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
