Guide Bar and Saw chain Installation and Adjustment
TO pREVENT SERIOUS INJURy FROM AccIDENTAL OpERATION:
Make sure that the Trigger is in the off-position and remove the Battery
pack before performing any procedure in this section.
Note:
New Saw Chains often need to be tensioned several times during first use.
Check a new Saw Chain’s tension often when first using.
Follow the directions in the following sections for installing the Guide Bar and Saw Chain, for
checking and adjusting Saw Chain tension, and for replacing the Saw Chain when necessary.
Guide Bar / Saw Chain Installation
cAUTION!
Wear heavy-duty work gloves when handling Saw chain.
1.
BEFORE FIRST USE:
Soak Saw Chain in bar
and chain oil (sold separately) overnight.
2. Loosen the Lock Knob (7) and remove
the Drive Cover (8) from the Saw.
3. Place the slotted end of the Chain Guide
Bar (1) over the Guide Bar Bolt and insert
the Chain Tension Pin into the lower hole
in the Guide Bar. Refer to Figure B.

4. Place the Saw Chain (2) around the Sprocket (19)
and over the Guide Bar. Make sure the Cutters of
the Saw Chain are facing away from the Chainsaw
along the top edge of the Guide Bar. Fit the Chain
links into the groove around the Guide Bar.

5. Replace the Drive Cover and tighten the Lock
Knob so that the Cover is snug, but not tight.

Adjusting Saw Chain Tension
on page 11.
