Installing an APX 1000 Chassis

Installing or replacing APX 1000 slot cards

APX 1000™ Getting Started Guide

You must also verify that your system software supports any newly released APX 1000 slot
card that you want to install on your unit. If the card is not supported by your current system
software, you must upgrade your system software before installing the card. If you do not
upgrade the system software first, the card might not function properly.

For information about the system software required for a particular slot card and for upgrade
instructions, see the most recent release notes. For information about loading software on the
APX 1000 unit and recovering from a failed slot card installation, see the
APX 8000™/MAX TNT® Administration Guide.

Installing an APX 1000 slot card

To install a slot card in the APX 1000 chassis, proceed as follows:

Before handling slot cards or any other components that are sensitive to static electricity,
be sure that you are properly grounded with a grounding strap that is connected to a
grounded chassis or other source of ground potential, as shown in Figure 3-15.

Examine the connector at the rear of the slot card to verify that no pins are bent or
misaligned, as shown in Figure 3-16.
