Postoxygenation phase
If a closed breathing circuit is detected, the suction phase is terminated and venti-
lation in the post-oxygenation phase starts. Ventilation will also start if the patient
is still not disconnected after 10 seconds.
Alternatively, the ventilator switches to the post-oxygenation phase once the
suction phase has been completed and starts ventilation. If this is not possible
because the breathing circuit is still open, a corresponding alarm is triggered.
Once ventilation is resumed, the ventilation parameters and alarm limits of the
pre-oxygenation phase are applied. Even a modified O
2
value is maintained but it
can be changed at any time.
The post-oxygenation phase is terminated after 2 minutes. The O
2
value is auto-
matically reset to the value which was set prior to starting the automatic suction
routine. The automatic suction routine switches off automatically.

Suction with closed suction systems
When performing the suction routine with a closed suction system, the set oxy -
gen concentration is applied as complementary oxygenation for 120 seconds, the
byflow is adapted, and at the same time some of the audible alarms are disabled.
Remark
The BiLevel ventilation mode should be selected for suction with
closed suction systems because negative pressures may occur or
control algorithms may be altered in other modes.

The previously selected settings are retained during closed suc-
tion. The O
2
supply is increased during the manoeuvre.

Remark The Cuffscout function is not available for elisa 300.

Device setup
Two different Cuffscout lines are available and either type can be used.
Warning
Only the Cuffscout connecting lines included in the accessory list
are approved for use with the Cuffscout function (see illustration).
