Tips for improving the cleaning
and polishing result
Prolonged cleaning/polishing without re-
wetting the carbon fibre brush with electro-
lyte leads to strong heating of the electrode
and the workpiece.
–
This increases the wear of the carbon fibre brush and
reduces the service life and cleaning effect!
–
Never clean too long on one spot.
Sometimes, after machining, dull spots remain to the right
and left of the weld in the vicinity of the HAZ (heat-affect-
ed zone). The dull spots are caused by the welding process
(chrome depletion).
–
This is due to the process and can be reduced by more
intensive cleaning or polishing!
It is best to use demineralised water.
–
This is how you avoid white limescale edges.
–
The water hardness must be less than 10 °dH.
Dry the surface with clean paper towels.
–
Make sure that you always use a clean cloth; other-
wise, you will spread the mopped-up electrolyte on
the component.
If necessary, finish your workpiece with a commercially
available stainless steel care product.
–
This makes the surface less sensitive to renewed soil-
ing such as fingerprints.

Decommissioning
Â
Switch the machine off.
Â
Wipe the cables with a damp cloth.
Â
Clean the device and accessories thoroughly. Have main-
tenance work carried out by a specialist.
For detailed instructions on cleaning the device and acces-
sories, see “26 Repair and maintenance” on Page 38.
Â
Dry all items
Â
Close the electrolyte containers carefully so that no elec-
trolyte can leak out. Store the device and accessories in the
transport box.
Â
Close the transport box and secure it with a cable tie to
prevent accidental opening.

Error messages
Malfunction / error message
Possible cause(s)
Remedy
No cleaning effect although the green control
LED lights up
Earth terminal not connected
Connect earth terminal
Thread on cleaning handle oxidised or
dirty
Cleaning with wire brush
Weld or surface becomes matt
Stayed too long on one spot when clean-
ing
Do not stay too long in one place when
cleaning
Surface too hot
Cool surface (spray water on the surface)
Too little electrolyte
Increase electrolyte quantity
Electrolyte quality too poor or depleted
Use non-depleted electrolyte
Carbon fibre brushes burn and electrode
becomes hot
Too little electrolyte used
Immerse the electrode in the wide-necked
container more often and cool it down
Carbon fibre brushes wear out too quickly
Too little cooling in the container
Cool longer in the container
Too much pressure when working
Work with less pressure
Too little electrolyte used
Use more electrolyte
Stains after rinsing
(Stains occur partly only after complete drying
or approx. 48 hours.)
Not rinsed thoroughly enough with water
Rinse thoroughly with water
Limescale residues due to excessive water
hardness
Use water with lower hardness
Surface too hot
Process shorter sections
Electrolyte residues
Use distilled water
Rinse when the material surface is still hot
There is no or insufficient power at the front of
the brush and the green LED at the front of the
housing is lit.
There is a 99% probability that there is an
insufficient contact between the threaded
piece and the brush.
Check thread for:
–
Oxidation, damage, loose fit.
–
Clean the thread with a wire brush.
–
Apply a little copper paste or Molykote
grease to the thread.
–
Screw the threaded piece and brush tight-
ly together.
–
Use suitable open-end spanners WAF 10
for this purpose.
–
When replacing brushes, tighten the new
brush each time with two WAF 10 open-
end spanners.
