Calibration Procedures
Dependent on the instrument software, it may be possible to check and
adjust the calibration of the instrument using either a Dry Gas Reference
Standard or a Wet Reference Standard. The Use of the Dry Gas Standard is
more common, and so the procedures outlined below are based on the
use of a Dry Gas Standard. For further information on the use of Wet
Standards contact Lion Laboratories.
During the calibration check or adjustment procedure the operator will
have to define the
Standard Type
, in order for the instrument to set the
appropriate compensation.
It is imperative in such cases that the correct setting is made, or the
instrument will not be calibrated correctly.
Calibration Check
Why Calibration CHECKS?
To ensure the
lion alcolmeter® 900
remains fully operational and
accurate, its calibration must be CHECKED periodically, such as every three
months. The CHECK procedure is carried out using a known alcohol
concentration reference standard; this can be obtained from the local Lion
distributor.
Instrument
calibration
ADJUSTMENT
is needed when the
CHECK
procedure produces a reading that is greater or less than 0.03 mg/L from
the known value of the reference standard.
As a guide, because of the high stability of the alcohol sensor and
electronics used in the
lion alcolmeter® 900,
recalibration should not be
needed more often than every six months.
