Lock System Overview
Parental Control can be used to block individual channels, programs with speci
fi
c ratings or in speci
fi
c
categories, and external viewing sources. It is also possible to block all program viewing for a time period.
The Parental Control function (V-Chip) blocks program viewing based on the ratings guidelines provided
by broadcasting stations. Most television programs and television movies can be blocked by TV rating and/
or individual categories. Movies that have been shown in theaters or direct-to-video movies use the Movie
Rating System (MPAA) only. The default setting is to allow all programs to be viewed.
The following sections describe how to enable or disable the Lock System, how to set a password for the
Lock System, and how to set up blocking schemes.
Notes:
•
If the Lock System has been enabled previously, a password is required to gain access to the Lock
