Transport Service Check
5 Transport Blurred print and voids can be caused by
problems in the transport area. Check the
following:
• Transport belt for wear and full engagement into
the carrier grip.
• Carrier guide rod for wear or dirt.
• Carrier to carrier frame engagement should be
lubricated with grease P/N 99A0394.
Lubricate the carrier guide rod and carrier frame
on both sides where the two top bearing
surfaces ride on the frame.
• Idler pulley parts for wear, damage, or
looseness.
Parts / FRUs Action
1 Transport Motor Check the motor for binds, or loose motor pulley.
Disconnect the transport motor J2C from the
system board. Check for approximately 7 ohms
between pins 3 and 4 on the motor cable and for
shorted motor pins. If the reading is incorrect,
replace the engine frame assembly.
If the failure remains, replace the system board.
2 System Board Check connector J2C on the system board and
check for a approximately 23 V dc pulse between
J2C-1 and ground as the printer goes through
POST. If incorrect, replace system board.
3 Ink Carrier
Assembly Check the ink carrier assembly.
4 Carrier Guide
Rod Clean the carrier rod.
Note : Lubricate the rod and the carrier rod bearing
surface.
