Faults, FAQ
Should the unit change over to a faulty condition (red lamp lit on the unit’s front
panel, FAULT condition indicated in the central controller), take the following ste-
ps:
Check that adequate pressure is in the gas supply system and that manual stop
valves on the gas feeding line are fully open. Check the gas system for its integrity
and close forthwith the main gas supply and call a repair shop should a gas leak be
revealed.
Check that the power supply line is not broken; check the electric fuse in the in-
let lead and the contactor in the distribution box for their condition. If all the safe
operation conditions are satis
fi
ed, unlock the unit’s automatic system by depre-
ssing the RESET red button (on remote control in case of Alfa TOP, on unit’s backside
in case of Alfa ECO) or do the same remotely, giving the appropriate command on
the central controller.
If the unit starts working normally, watch its function for a prolonged span of
time. If the unit of its main fuse gets locked once again, or if it is impossible for the
unit to recover, close the gas supply, disconnect the power supply and call a LERSEN
specialized repair shop.
Unit Operation
Routine Maintenance, Technical Care
With the burner started up and ignited the unit is running automatically, de-
pending on the controls’ settings. Nonstop running of the burner for at least 30 mi-
nutes should be ensured while the Alfa TOP/ECO unit is in service itself. In this way
you will prevent condensate formation in excessive amounts, which might occur
when the
fl
ue extraction system is insu
ffi
ciently saturated with heat. A condensa-
te trap should always be incorporated in this system. The trap must be checked on
a regular basis or condensate drainage ensured, using a suitable hose.
The unit and its burner lock will themselves up in response to a fault. Red lamp
lights up on the unit. With the fault recti
fi
ed the burner can again be set into ope-
ration by depressing the reset button on the unit’s back side and/or on the remote
control unit or with the RESET button on the Sky.Net wireless controller or via the
appropriate command available in the Lersen Net II central control. If the unit’s
burner cannot be restarted for the reasons other than power of gas supply fail con-
dition or the unit’s parameters in excess of same admissible limits, there is no other
option than to call the respective authorized LERSEN repair shop.
Routine maintenance of the gas-
fi
red heating units lies in the technical inspec-
tions and recti
fi
cation of the defects, if any, carried out on a regular basis.
Regular inspection of the
fi
lter’s mixer chamber for its clogging, to be carried
out as necessary in respect of the surrounding dust. Such a clogging may result in
damage to the unit or its accessories. The manufacturer shall not be responsible for
the damage caused like this. Our recommendation is to install a clogged
fi
lter indi-
cation system, see Clogged Filter Indication, page 19.
Compulsory maintenance is at least once a year (in between the heating sea-
sons). Maintenance may only be carried out when the unit is disconnected from the
power grid and the gas supply stopped. Disconnect the Alfa TOP/ECO unit from its
power supply line only after its heat exchanger cools down completely. Otherwise
the unit’s or fan’s motor might su
ff
er damage. The manufacturer shall not be re-
sponsible for the damage caused like this. Only the personnel with appropriate
quali
fi
cations may carry out this routine maintenance. It is recommendable to
make a maintenance contract with a LERSEN-authorized service centre.
While being commissioned, the ALFA units should be left continuously running in
the HEATING mode for at least 4 hours to achieve thermal and surface stabilization
of the exchanger. During this operation a smoke evolvement takes place, a
ff
ecting
potentially the
fi
re detectors.
