Chapter 1. About the keyboard
The Lenovo
®
USB Smartcard Keyboard (hereafter called the keyboard) is a full-sized keyboard equipped with
a smart card reader and the ThinkVantage
®
button to enhance your computing security and convenience.
The keyboard enables authorized users’ single login to the computer and prevents unauthorized access
to the network of an organization. Typically, the user-access verification of the keyboard secures the
environment for transactions performed on both public and private networks. The ThinkVantage button on
the keyboard provides quick access to some of the programs installed on your computer or the Windows
System Information window.
The option package contains:

• Setup and warranty poster

Depending on your operating system, you can do the following by pressing the ThinkVantage button:
Note: Before using the ThinkVantage button, ensure that you install the Lenovo USB Smartcard Keyboard
hotkey driver (hereafter called the hotkey driver).
• For the Microsoft
®
Windows
®
XP operating system, whenever you have a question about your computer
or want to view Lenovo Web sites, press the ThinkVantage button to open the ThinkVantage Productivity
Center program for comprehensive help and information for your computer.
• For the Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems, press the ThinkVantage button to open the Lenovo
SimpleTap, Lenovo Solution Center, or Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox program. The Lenovo SimpleTap
program provides a quick way to customize the basic settings and personalized features of the computer.
