Chapter 4: Removing and Replacing G8264 Components

Removing the Fan Module

remove

hot

‐

swap

fan

module,

complete

the

following

steps:

Loosen

the

retainer

screw.

Grasp

the

extractor

handle

and

gently

pull

the

fan

module

from

the

slot.

Attention:

If the inlet air temperature is above 35°C (95°F) while the switch is in

operation, replace the fan module within five minutes to avoid overheating the
switch.

necessary

After

you

remove

the

component,

securely

pack

the

component

for

shipping.

Replacing the Fan Module

replace

hot

‐

swap

fan

module,

complete

the

following

steps:

Select

empty

fan

module

bay

the

rear

the

switch.

the

target

bay

covered

blank

fan

filler

plate,

loosen

the

retainer

screw

and

slide

the

filler

plate

out

the

slot.

Remove

the

new

fan

module

from

the

antistatic

shielded

bag.

Slide

the

fan

module

into

the

card

guides

the

open

slot

and

gently

push

all

the

way

into

the

slot,

that

firmly

engages

with

the

connector

(see

the

illustration).

Each

fan

module

has

mechanical

guide

key

prevent

you

from

inserting

the

module

incorrectly.
