Chapter 3: Installing G8264 Hardware and Options

Installing Port Transceivers

The

G8264

supports

copper

and

optical

transceivers.

Note:

avoid

damage

the

cable

SFP

transceiver,

not

connect

the

cable

before

you

install

the

transceiver.

Remove

the

safety

cap

and

pull

the

locking

lever

into

the

down

(unlocked)

position.

Insert

the

transceiver

into

the

slot

until

clicks

into

place.

Use

minimal

pressure

when

you

insert

the

transceiver.

not

use

excessive

force

when

you

insert

the

transceiver

you

might

damage

the

transceiver

the

slot.

The

transceiver

has

mechanical

guide

key

prevent

you

from

inserting

the

transceiver

incorrect

orientation.

Pull

the

locking

lever

lock

the

transceiver

into

place.

Connect

the

cable

following

the

“Cabling

Guidelines”

page 36

remove

SFP

copper

transceiver,

disconnect

the

cable,

and

pull

down

the

locking

lever

release

the

transceiver.

After

you

remove

the

transceiver,

replace

the

safety

cap.
