Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, install the server cover before turning on the server. Operating the
server with the server cover removed might damage server components.
Removing and installing hardware
This topic provides instructions on how to remove and install hardware for your server. You can expand the
capabilities of your server and maintain your server by installing or replacing hardware devices.
If you are handling a server option, refer to the appropriate instructions in this manual along with the
instructions that come with the option.
Notes:
• Use only parts provided by Lenovo.
• Depending on your server model, your server might look slightly different from the illustrations in this
chapter.

Removing the front bezel
To remove the front bezel, do the following:
1. Prepare your server. See “Preparing your server and removing the server cover” on page 41.
2. Release the three plastic tabs on the left side. Then, pivot the front bezel as shown to remove the front
bezel from the chassis.
