rear
edges
of
the
assembly
and
lift
the
assembly
out

server.

to
install
or
remove,

so

Installing
a
memory
module
The
following
notes
describe
the
types
of
dual
inline
memory
modules
(DIMMs)
that
the
server
supports
and
other
information
that
you
must
consider
when
you
install
DIMMs:

The
server
supports
512
MB,
1
GB,
and
2
GB
DIMMs,
for
a
maximum
of
8
GB
of
system
memory.

amount
of
usable
memory
will
be
reduced
depending
on
the
system
configuration.
A
certain
amount
of
memory
must
be
reserved

view
the
total
amount
of
installed
memory
and
the
amount
of
configured
memory
(see
“Using
the
Configuration/Setup
Utility
program”
on
page
38).

installed

DIMM
connector

and
an
identical
DIMM
(the
same
size,
speed,
type,
and
technology)

in

install

pair

DIMMs

connectors

the
size,
speed,
type,
and
technology
of
the
DIMMs
that
you
install
in
DIMM
connectors

match

they

be
the

size,
speed,
type,
and
technology
as
the
DIMMs

installed
in
DIMM
connectors

can
use
compatible
DIMMs
from
various
manufacturers
in
the
same
pair.

Install
only
double-data-rate
II
(DDR
II),
PC2-5300,
unbuffered
synchronous
dynamic
random-access
memory
(SDRAM)
with
error
correcting
code
(ECC)
DIMMs.
These
DIMMs
must
be
compatible
with
the
latest
PC2-5300
SDRAM
unbuffered
DIMM
specification.

If
you
install
a
pair
of
2
GB
DIMMs
and
a
pair
of
other-size
DIMMs,
the
2
GB
DIMMs
must
be
installed
as
the
first
pair
(in
DIMM
connectors
