Punching and binding with wire combs
1. Preparations
Set the paper stop to the paper format used.
Determine the comb size needed by holding the document
(including front and rear cover) in position on the paper scale
.
You may also use the table on page 5 for this purpose.
Set the closing width adjuster to the comb size used.
2. Fixing the wire comb
Push down the wire comb holder on the rear.
Insert the wire comb with the open side upwards.
Push down the wire comb holder in front.
The wire comb is now fixed to ease insertion of the sheets.
3. Punching
Tip: We recommend testing the punch setting using a blank sheet of paper
before punching the original document.
Caution! To prevent damage to the motor and punching
mechanism, remove all metal parts (staples etc.) from the
document before punching. Do not punch more than 25 sheets of
80-gramm paper or two films of 0.2 mm at the same time. Empty
the cuttings tray
regularly.
Depending on the punching needed, insert the sheets into the rear
or front slot

Press the punching button .
Remove the punched sheets.
4. Inserting the sheets
Insert the punched sheets into the comb.
It is now possible to punch all remaining sheets (step 3) and insert them into
the opened comb.
5. Closing the comb
Note: Once a wire comb has been closed, it can be opened again only by
destruction.
Press down the wire comb holder and remove the wire comb
together with the sheets.
Place sheets with wire comb into the wire closer (open side of
wire comb downwards).
Caution!
Pinch point hazard:
Keep hands clear of wire closer.
Pull down the binding lever as far as it will go and then return it to
its original position.
Remove the finished document.
Tip: You can optimise your binding using the continuous adjuster : If the
wire comb is not completely closed (sheets could fall out), slide the adjuster
a little more to the left. If the wire comb is oval rather than round after binding
(closed too far), slide the adjuster a little more to the right.
