Figure 25 Calibration
This is the Calibration Screen. This is where the operator adjusts the effective diameter of
each drive wheel. This is necessary whenever you change wheels to a different diameter or a
different tread. See Wheel Assembly Removal, Change-out (Section 9.2)
.
This parameter is
factory set for 2.5 inch (63.5mm) steel wheels.
Follow these steps:
To set the effective diameter of each drive wheel, push Calibration button on the Status
Screen. The screen will change to look like the picture above.
The display changes to show two numbers—the upper wheel diameter and the lower
wheel diameter, each in 1/1000 of an inch units (0.1 of a mm). For example, a
2.5”(63.5mm) diameter wheel would be shown as 2.500 inches
To change these values, press the button containing the value you wish to change.
The screen will change to the keypad screen. Enter the value you need and press the
enter button. The screen will automatically change back to the Status Screen. Set pulley
tooth count.
Set PLC/PPR – DO NOT CHANGE.
7.8 Top Wheel Differential %
Another factor that can affect weld integrity is top wheel differential speed. Certain unusual
seams require the top wheel to turn at a slightly different speed than the lower wheel in order
to maintain exact registration. You set the two wheels at slightly different speeds using the Top
Wheel Diff %
Here is how this is done:
Press the Top Wheel Diff % button. Watch the computer display change to the keypad
screen
Enter the new value desired. If this value is a negative value, enter the number then press
the +/- button to make it a negative.
Press the enter button and the screen will automatically change back to the Status Screen.
