Reagent handling

Caution 

Always replenish reagents via the reagent bottle and paraffin via the paraffin bath.
Do not add reagents or paraffin directly into the retort. Doing so will cause an overflow from reagent 

bottles or paraffin baths during filling or draining which could result in instrument malfunction or potentially 

a fire accident. 

5.6.1  Filling/draining reagents

Caution 

The following steps should only be carried out by trained laboratory personnel, experienced in handling 

reagents. 
Always wear chemical protective clothing, protective goggles, respirator, rubber gloves and all other 

necessary personal protective equipment, when handling the reagents used in this instrument.
Reagents used for tissue processing can be both toxic and/or flammable.

Caution 

Dispose of waste reagent with care according to local regulations and the waste management policy of 

the company or institution.
