1 Introduction
The DTM-MA Master station outputs DMX512, controlling lighting and other stage equipment. SDE
stations may be added to the control loop to provide convenient access to the system functions. SDE
stations are remote entry stations, simply referred to as 'remotes'.
Additional modules can be added to the system as needed
•
The S-MIO (Multi-I/O Interface) provides additional inputs for occupancy sensors, daylight
sensors, and other switched inputs as well as outputs for control of shades or other equipment.
•
The S-COM (Communications module) allows for external control of the DTM-MA using
serial and Ethernet interfaces. Use S-COM with the SoliMobile app on a mobile phone or
tablet.
1.1 Definitions
Zones and DMX channels
DMX channels control intensity, color, and other attributes of light fixtures or other equipment. Zones
are the unit of control used by the stations and correspond to the sliders. DMX channels are assigned
to zones (patched) when the DTM-MA station is configured.
Intensity and color
Intensity refers to the brightness of a light and ranges from 0% (off) to 100% (full). White lights are
controlled by their intensity, where intensity is one channel of DMX. Color lights typically have three
or more color controls as well as intensity, using several channels of DMX. Zones are defined
according to the kind of light they control. RGB zones control the red, green, and blue channels of a
light with a color-picker. White and amber are controlled like intensity, each on its own slider.
Non-dim zones
A ‘non-dim’ zone has only has two output levels, 0% or 100%. A non-dim zone would be used when
the channel it controls is connected to a fan, any type of motor, an outlet, or any lighting fixture that
should only be on or off. Non-dim zones do not fade. If a fade time is assigned to a non-dim zone, the
light level will change halfway through the fade time.
Presets and Fade Times
A preset holds a lighting ‘look’. This consists of the zone levels required to achieve the desired
intensity and color, and the time span to fade into those levels after the preset is activated. Presets are
stored in the memory of DTM-MA stations and can be activated at any of the remote entry stations.
The 'active preset' is the one currently in effect. The Off preset has all intensities fixed at 0%. Presets
1 to 18 and Full can be set and changed by the user.
