While DMX-IN is being passed through
If the active area is capture-enabled, the slider levels on the zones tab will show DMX-IN levels.
These levels can be stored to presets allowing you to 'capture' DMX from an external source. Zone
levels for this area cannot be changed at the station while DMX-IN is passing through. Presets can be
changed, and zone levels can be changed remotely, but these changes will not be live until DMX-IN
has stopped passing through.
If the active area is not capture-enabled, the zones tab will continue to show the area's current zone
levels, even though they are not being output on DMX. Zone levels and presets can be changed but
they will not be live until DMX-IN has stopped passing through. Storing to presets is not allowed.
The RDM bypass switch must be in the 'Normal' position to capture DMX input or to activate presets
(section 3.10).
3.8.2 Capturing DMX-IN
DMX-IN can be stored to presets when DMX-IN is present and when the area is set to enable Capture.
The area's DMX layout and patch must also be set correctly – each zone will correspond to a channel
of DMX-IN. Captured presets can be recalled when DMX-IN is not present or when the station user
has unchecked the DMX-IN box. The captured presets can be adjusted and re-stored as needed using
the zone sliders and master up/down buttons.
The DMX channels for a capture-enabled area may overlay DMX channels for a non-capture area,
allowing one space to be controlled by two different areas at the station. The area in control will be
the last one selected by the station user on the Presets or Zones tab. For example, to recall presets
stored from the console in area Show, the station user would select area Show. To control the same
lights, only from presets set up for station control, the user would select area Stage.
3.9 Locking/Unlocking remote stations
SDE remote stations can be locked to control user access. The SDE station must be capable of
locking, refer to the SDE manual for more info. Remote locking is done per area. At the DTM-MA,
remotes are locked from a button on the Presets tab, if this has been set up in the configuration, or
from the Site tab. Remotes can also be locked/unlocked as a result of an input or timeclock event.
An SDE-LCD stations may also lock/unlock remotes. A brief message will appear on the DTM-MA
display when this happens.
3.10 Setting the RDM bypass
Normally, the DMX-OUT port is outputting DMX received from the DMX-IN port or it is outputting
DMX generated at the station. In these cases, the RDM bypass switch should be in the 'Normal'
position.
