Compact Engine Procedures
23.2.1
Service Mode
Front View
The Compact Engine can be booted in service mode to perform diagnostics.
1.
Power off the device.
2.
Press and hold the two buttons to the right of the status display – marked
>>
and
OK
– and power on.
At the end of the boot-up, the status display shows that the unit is now in “boot” mode (in the bottom left-hand
corner):

Press the

button to page through the available diagnostics.
4.
When you have completed your tests, you can return the device to normal operation by pressing the
button.
Load Default Parameters
This page can be used to boot the unit with its factory default IP address and no audio or control system
parameters. It provides a way of checking the basic operation if, for example, the system stops responding
after a configuration change. The configuration remains in memory but is not loaded until the
Load Default
Parms
option is canceled.

Boot the unit in
Load Default Parms
:

Press the
OK
button to toggle between the
YES
and
NO
options, and select
YES
.
3.
Power off and on the unit - the Compact Engine now boots with the default parameters loaded; this is
shown on the status display:
You can now carry out any checks on your system using the default IP address.
The unit will continue to boot in default mode, until you reset the
Load Default Parms
option. So repeat
steps 1 to 3 but this time select the
NO
option (in step 2) to reinstate the stored IP address and
configuration.
