OPERATION
■ Hold the chain saw steady with both hands and keep the saw to the right of your body while
cutting.
■ Keep the left arm as straight as possible.
■ Keep weight on both feet.
Limbing
(See Fig. 20)
Limbing is for the sawing of branches from a felled tree.
■ Leave the larger support limbs under the tree to keep the tree off the ground while cutting. Do
not remove support limbs until after the log is bucked (cut) into lengths.
■ Support limbs are under tension. Branches under tension should be cut from the bottom up to
avoid binding the chain saw.
Felling
Felling is the term for cutting down a tree. Small trees up to 12-15cm in diameter are usually cut in
a single cut.
