Mower or engine vibrates excessively
1. Balance blade

2. Tighten blade mounting nut
3. Clean mower discharge chute
4. Clean underside of mower deck
5. Tighten engine mounting bolts
Uneven cutting pattern
1. Place all four (4) wheels at same height
2. Sharpen and balance blade
3. Change mowing pattern
4. Clean underside of mower deck
Discharge chute plugs
1. Move throttle lever to the FAST position
2. Raise cutting height
3. Allow grass to dry before mowing
4. Clean underside of mower deck
Will not self-propel
1. Adjust self-propelled cable

WARNING
POTENTIAL HAZARD

An uncovered discharge opening will allow
objects to be thrown in operator’s or
bystander’s direction. Also, contact with blade
could occur.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
•
Thrown objects or blade contact can cause
serious injury.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
•
Never operate mower unless cover plate, mulch
plate or grass chute and catcher are installed.
1. Stop engine and disconnect spark plug wire (Fig. 38)
before installing or removing grass chute.

Spark plug wire
2. Place chute assembly into housing opening (Fig. 39).
Two shoulder bolts on the mower housing protrude
through slotted holes in the chute assembly and do not
have to be loosened or removed. Chute assembly
moves over the shoulder bolts.
