Electronic injection (gasoline engine):
Most engines possess an electronic injection which is controlled by a control unit
(ecm). It continually receives and processes information from different sensors, in
order to guarantee optimal and economical operation of the engine. In case of
any problems with the engine, please contact the dealer.
Warning system:
The engine is equipped with a warning system, which permanently checks cool
water temperature and oil pressure. If one of the two exceeds the permitted limit,
an acoustic warning signal will sound, which you will also hear when turning the
ignition key to the right in order to start the motor. An additional indicator lamp is
also installed. It is located in the instrument panel next to the ignition key.
Starting the engine:
Before starting the engine, you should control the engine compartment for
possible leaks of flammable liquids.
It must be guaranteed that the engine gets sufficient cooling water. Insufficient
cooling water supply can lead to overheating of the engine.
CHECKS TO BE CARRIED OUT before starting the engine:
•
Search fuel line for leaks, can you smell any fuel?
•
Also search cooling system for leaks. Make sure that the water supply to the
system is sufficient. Any traces of water visible on engine or in sump?
•
Check steering and transmission. Is the cable of the speed remote control
attached properly?
•
Check fuel level, maybe with a dipstick.
•
Check the oil level.
Having carried out the above inspections, you can now start the engine as
follows:
1. Shift gear into neutral position. The engine can only be started in neutral
position.
2. With an injection engine no gas must be given during the ignition process. The
injection pump controls automatically the required gasoline quantity.
3. Turn the ignition key to the right as far as possible.
If the engine does not start during the first 20 to 30 seconds, turn the ignition key
back into normal position and wait a minute before you try again. As soon as the
engine runs, accelerate a little (approx. 1000 rpm) so that the motor reaches as
quickly as possible the optimal operation temperature. After 30 seconds turn the
