5 Service
Routine maintenance and service is required
for the FiberMINI
®
AF. The operating
environment has a critical impact on the
frequency of maintenance procedures. Consult
your Laser Mechanisms representative for
guidance.
Optics are very sensitive to dust and
debris. It is extremely important to
take every possible precaution to
ensure the optics remain pristine.

Service optics in a clean
environment, such as a dust free
air-conditioned room.
5.1 Cleaning the Outside of the Head
Before opening any part of the
head, clean off the dust and/or
process debris according
to the
following instruction.
To clean the outside surface of the head,
Laser Mechanisms recommends the
following items:

Vacuum (PLTLS0035)

Dry Wipe (PLTLS0037)

Wet Wipe (PLTLS0036)
Laser Mechanisms recommends the
following procedure to clean the entire
outside surface of the head at least once
per month or more often as necessary.
1. Vacuum the entire outside surface of
the head using the vacuum
(PLTLS0035) to remove loose dust
and debris.
2. Clean the entire outside surface of the
head using a dry wipe (PLTLS0037) to
remove additional dust or loose
debris.
3. Clean the entire outside surface of the
head using a wet wipe (PLTLS0036)
to remove any remaining debris.
4. Inspect the entire outside surface of
the head and repeat as necessary.
5.2 Servicing Gas Jet Tip
See Figure 42 .
To remove the gas jet tip:
1. Unthread the tip retainer nut from the
tip retainer assembly.
2. Remove the gas jet tip by pulling it
straight down.
To install the gas jet tip:
3. Insert the new gas jet tip into the tip
retainer nut.
4. Thread the tip retainer nut, with the
new gas jet tip installed, onto the tip
retainer assembly.
