COOKING TIPS
Never overfill the steamer baskets with food, or completely cover the holes on the bottom
of the baskets. Remember that in order for the cooking to occur, steam must flow through the
baskets and around the food. If you cover the holes on the bottom of the baskets completely
(for example, with a piece of foil) steam will not be able to flow freely.
Place larger items, or those that require longer cooking times in the lower steamer basket,
because steam will be hottest at its source. The further the food is from the source of the
steam, the longer it will take to cook.
If you are cooking different food types on different levels, bear in mind that the top layers
might drip some juices on to the bottom layers.
If you want to cook foods with different cooking times, place the food with the longest
cooking time in the lower steamer basket. Once the shorter cooking times of the upper basket
or baskets are up, you can remove just these baskets, and place the lid on the basket(s) below
it to continue cooking.
When steaming, be sure to fill the water reservoir to MAX level. In order to reduce the
cooking time, fill up the water reservoir with lukewarm water.
Caution!
Beware of escaping steam. There is a danger of scalding.
