1. Press the “on” button on the scale until the display starts to
blink. Set to lbs. and oz.* Let go of the button and the scale
will go through its calibration.
(Make sure there is no load
on the scale during the calibration process otherwise false
reading will occur.)
2. Take the free end of the measuring chain in your right hand
and place it at the right corner of the load about 2” from
the top of the load as shown in
Photo -3
. Stretch the chain
out parallel to the top to position the piercing finger where it
should be inserted: 22” from the right side of the load and
about 2” from the top of the load as shown.
3. Insert the piercing finger
(Photo - 4)
at that point. Once the
piercing finger is inserted in the film, you may let the
measuring chain go. Hold your right thumb underneath the
top plate for support.
(See Photo - 5)
Note:
This is so the film does not “bunch” up between the
fulcrum finger and the piercing finger. Do not let the film go
higher than weld underneath the top plate.

When measuring containment force, always measure from the right side of the load as you face it.
See Photo - 3
.
When possible use the long side of the load. It’s okay to use the short if you have to but the long side is preferred. For example,
if you have a 40”x48” pallet, measure the 48” side. Each load should also be checked in 3 different vertical locations.
