Section 1: Assembly & Set-up
SA10 Hydraulic Post Hole Digger 317-433M

Auger Installation and Removal
Refer to Figure 1-3:
DANGER
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
Keep others away from the post hole digger while the auger is
rotating. A person can become entangled in the auger or hit by
the auger if it swings erratically. Anyone helping should be
kept a safe distance (a minimum of 10 feet or 3 meters) from
the unit while it is rotating.
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
Do not install a bolt that is longer than what was originally
supplied with the auger. Protruding hardware is more likely to
entangle a bystander by catching on loose clothing.
Installation
Refer to Figure 1-3:
1. Rotate hitch plate (#7) face down and swing motor
assembly (#6) out as shown.
2. Rest motor assembly (#6) on a support block (#5)
approximately 4" (10 cm) off the ground.
3. Slide auger (#1) over output drive shaft (#4) until
mounting holes in the auger and drive shaft are in
alignment.
4. Insert 1/2"-13 x 3 3/4" GR5 bolts (#3) and secure with
nylock nuts (#2). Torque locknuts to the proper
torque.
Removal
Refer to Figure 1-3:
1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above.
2. Remove nylock nuts (#2) and bolts (#3).
3. Slide auger (#1) off of output drive shaft (#4).
4. Store removed hardware by reattaching bolts (#3)
and nylock nuts (#2) to the removed auger (#1).
5. Store auger (#1) in a safe location where others will
not fall over the auger and in such a way that the
auger will not fall on others.
