Tiller Hitch Sideshift
Refer to Figure 3-1:
The three point and gearbox can be sideshifted to the left
of tiller center for various working conditions.
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
After sideshifting check to see that the driveline clears all
shields on the tiller, tractor, and tiller hitch. If not, decrease
sideshift until clearance is obtained.
1. Loosen the two u
-
bolts (#1) which hold the top
hitch and gearbox frame (#3) to the front tube.
2. Remove the two bolts (#2) which hold the top
hitch and gearbox frame (#3) to the rear of the tiller.
3. Loosen the two u
-
bolts (#4) which hold the two lower
hitch clevises (#5) to the front tube.
4. Slide the top hitch and gearbox assembly (#3) to the
new desired location.
5. Re-center the lower hitch clevises (#5) with respect
to the gearbox.
6. Check to make sure lower hitch clevis (#5) are
26 7/8" apart from inside of clevis plate to inside of
clevis plate and 13 7/16" from center of gearbox input
shaft to inside of clevis plate as shown in Figure 1-2
7. Tighten all bolts and nuts referring to the
“Torque
Values Chart”
on page 32.
NOTE:
For maximum sideshift, position lower left
hitch clevis outside the side plate.
Chain Tightener
Figure 3-2
Drive Chain Tension
Refer to Figure 3-2:
The tension on the drive chain can be easily adjusted by
using the chain tightener stud. Should backlash occur,
the following should be done.
1. Loosen L.H. nut by turning it clockwise.
2. Torque stud counterclockwise to 20 - 30 foot pounds.
3. Tighten left-hand nut counterclockwise to 400 ft-lbs.
Be sure to hold stud in position while tightening nut.

IMPORTANT:
Chain tightener nut has left-hand
threads. Loosen nut by turning it clockwise.
