Torque Requirements
See
“Torque Values Chart”
page 54 to determine
correct torque values when tightening hardware. See
exceptions to common torque values.
Unfold Wings
DANGER
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
•
Keep everyone out of the area where the wing decks will
unfold. One of the wing decks can fall suddenly.
•
Do not stand between transport tires and wing deck or be in
an area where the wings can pinch or fall on you while
removing shipping bar and cylinder transport locks. Make
sure no one else is in the area where they can become
pinched or crushed by unfolding wings. The wings can drop
suddenly causing serious bodily injury or death.
WARNING
!
To avoid serious injury or death:
Hydraulic fluid under high pressure will penetrate the skin or
eyes causing a serious injury. Wear protective gloves and
safety glasses or goggles when working with hydraulic
systems. Use a piece of cardboard or wood rather than hands
when searching for leaks. If an accident occurs, seek
immediate emergency medical care or gangrene may result.
1. To ensure wings will unfold under their own weight,
unload cutter onto a flat, level, surface.
2. Back tractor up close to the front of the cutter.
3. Before dismounting tractor, put tractor in park or set
park brake, turn off tractor engine, and remove switch
key to prevent unauthorized starting.
4. Connect hydraulic hose to tractor remote outlet. If
tractor has float option on one of the outlets, connect
hydraulic hose to that outlet.
Refer to Figure 1-2:
5. Start tractor and raise center deck and both wings
fully up with tractor control lever.
6. Turn tractor engine off, and remove switch key.
7.
Separate transport lock bars (#1 & #2) from each
other by removing bolt (#3).
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT SEPARATE TRANSPORT
LOCK BARS BOLTED BETWEEN WINGS UNTIL
AFTER HYDRAULIC HOOK-UP TO TRACTOR.
NOTE: Refer to
An overhead host
attached to the wing axles is recommended to assist
lowering wing decks safely.
NOTE: Refer to Figure 1-3:
A come-along may be
needed to pull wings together before wing transport
locks (#1 & #2) can be separated.

8. On the right-hand side, remove hairpin cotter (#4)
from storage pin (#5).
Refer to Figure 1-3:
9. Rotate right wing transport lock bar (#1) up to storage
lug (#6). Secure with existing hairpin cotter (#4).
10. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the left-hand wing transport
lock bar (#2) shown in Figure 1-2.
11. Return to the tractor seat and start tractor engine.
12. With tractor hydraulic control lever, lower center deck
and both wings until center deck cylinder is against
cylinder stroke stops and wings are fully down.
13. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the left-hand wing transport
lock bar (#2) shown in Figure 1-2.
