14.3.2.10 Secure Voice Baseband Interface
For Network Centric operation, the Modem provides an interface for externally
encrypted secure voice baseband with the electrical interfaces defined in Table 14-11.
The interface is interoperable with MIL-STD-188-114 balanced and unbalanced
standard. The Modem does not provide encryption of the data presented at the secure
voice interface. This voice port is only used in the Network Centric Mode of operation.
The Baseband Voice port supports bi-directional transfer of digitized 16 kbps voice data
and is compatible with the KY-99 (Reference CSESD-71B) and the KY-57/58
(Reference CSESD-14G). The voice interface is a serial, synchronous, full duplex
balanced, bi-polar (+/- 5V), RS-422 / unbalanced RS-423 port capable of supporting a
16 kbps data rate.
This interface is located on the rear panel J3 connector.

14.3.2.11 Terminal Control and Monitoring Interface
The Modem provides two RS-485 interfaces for control and monitoring of other
equipment within the Satellite Command (SATCOM) terminal. The functionality of these
ports is programmable through software and can support unbalanced full duplex (FD),
balanced half-duplex (HD), and balanced full duplex (FD) operation. Currently these
ports are not programmed.
