Function
Description
Update
This box indicates that the R2CP sessions have changed. To update the R2CP
session, see section 10.2.
R2CP Error
This indicates an Error has been written to a trap File. See section 1.
Multicast Error
See section 0.Indicates Multicast Error has occurred.
Network
VLAN ID
This parameter is reserved for future use. HCI ignores anything the operator
enters.
Router IPv4 Address
The destination IPv4 address to which this node will establish an R2CP
adjacency. Note that the default value is the broadcast address
(255.255.255.255).
UDP Port
This specifies the UDP port number on which NCW transmits R2CP messages.
The range is 877 port numbers which are currently unassigned by IANA (see
http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers
The default port number is 28672.
Flow Control
These parameters have to do with tuning how the Modem sends flow control
metrics to the router.
Overload Factor
CDR Overload Factor. Defined as a percentage to add to the calculated CDR
before advertizing to the router in an R2CP Session Update Message. The
exception is that if the overload rate would cause the advertized CDR to be
greater than MDR, MDR must be used. In other words, the advertized CDR cap
is MDR. The overload factor is applied as follows: Advertized CDR =
WEIGHTEDAVERAGE (Prior CDR, New CDR + (NCW CDR × Overload Rate)).
In other words, the overload rate is applied before applying the weighted
average, not after the weighted average. Default is 10.
Assert Threshold [%]
This threshold is used as an upper boundary for the packet buffer in the Modem.
When it is reached, indicating buffer near-overflow, the Modem begins reporting
the Maximum Data Rate (MDR) metric as 0, so the router will cease sending
data until the packets in the buffer are depleted to below the De-assert
Threshold. Units are percent of buffer space in use. Default is 90.
De-assert Threshold
[%]
This threshold is used as a lower boundary for the packet buffer in the Modem.
When it is reached, indicating buffer near-overflow is resolved, the Modem sets
MDR metric back to initial value, so the router can resume sending data until the
buffer builds up to the Assert Threshold. Units are percent of buffer space in use.
Default is 50.
Config Frame Period
[frames]
The period in NCW frames over which the NC will send the set of FOW:
Outbound Data Rate messages for all NMs logged into the network. For
example, if there are 254 NMs logged into the network, for the default period of
10 frames, the set of FOW: Outbound Data Rate messages for all 254 NMs will
be transmitted every 10 frames. Default is 10. Maximum is 100.
Mean I/O Data Rate
[wt.]
The weighting factor employed in the weighted recursive exponential filter, used
to calculate the mean input data rate and mean packet queuing latency on a per-
destination basis. Default is 1.
Max. Data Rate
This section is specific to calculating and reporting the maximum data rate
metric.
Filter Initial Value
The Network Controller (NC) calculates MDR and smoothes it with a weighted
recursive filter. The initial value for the filter is in multiples of 16 Kbps. Example:
value 32 = 512 Kbps. Default is 32.
Report Threshold
The Network Controller (NC) calculates MDR, smoothes it with a weighted
recursive filter and converts it (rounds down) to the nearest 16 Kbps. It then
reports an update to the NMs in the FOW: Outbound Data Rate Report only if it
the new MDR value is different from the old value by this threshold. Units are
multiples of 16 Kbps. Example: value 4 = 64 Kbps.
