PILOT CLEAN-OUT DEVICE
-- The clean-out device is virtually maintenance free.
However, if the pilot orifice should ever need
replacement, follow “pilot orifice” service instructions
in this manual.
-- Familiarize yourself with the operation of the clean-
out device. Refer to the following instructions and
Fig. 9. as necessary.
1. To operate the clean-out device:
-- Fully depress push button at top of device.
See Fig. 9.
-- Ensure button is flush with top of body to allow
proper cleaning of orifice hole.
2. Use the clean-out feature of this device at the start
of each new growing cycle, or when plugging of the
orifice occurs. Indications of pilot orifice plugging are:
-- Weak pilot flame center
-- Pilot outages

Service Instructions
1. Disconnect the gas supply to heater before
attempting to service unless it is necessary to have it
connected for your service procedure. Use special
care to avoid being burned by hot surfaces or make
sure the heater is cool to touch before servicing.
2. Do not attempt to repair any part that comes in
contact with the gas such as the hose, copper tubing,
combustion cones, etc. Replace them.
3. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair any of the
following parts: valves of any kind, regulators,
thermostats, electronic devices, switches, safety
devices, hose assemblies, etc. Replace them.
4. After any repairs are made, always restart the heater
to make sure it operates properly. Refer to “Start Up
Instructions” within this Owner’s Manual.
5. For help in servicing this heater see the Trouble-
shooting Guide within this Owner’s Manual or call the
manufacturer. Some of the manufacturers of
components parts will provide additional information
on their products. Consult these materials if
applicable.

The heater and the clean-out device are extremely hot
when the heater is in operation and for a time after the
heater is shut down.

Do not operate the clean-out device when the heater is
lit or while still hot after shutdown.
■
Operate the clean-out device only when the heater and
clean-out device are cool to touch.
■
Failure to follow this warning can result in burns, leading
to severe injury or death.
