6 Adjust ASM software and IP address
Before powering on the KyWay ODU, you must adjust each ASM’s IP configuration for communication with the mTenna
Plus. For the mTenna Plus and mTenna Select to work properly, manually configure each ASM IP address to a unique
address.
1.
Set the laptop network adapter IP address to 192.168.0.16.
2.
Connect your workstation to an available Ethernet port on the network switch.
3.
Power on a single mTenna I/O.
4.
Press and hold the
Recovery
button on the mTenna I/O for 5 seconds, which restores the ASM to a known
default network state. It will now respond to the IP address 192.168.0.10.
5.
Connect to the ASM’s web-based user interface and navigate to
Settings
.
6.
Under software update, click
Choose File
and select the
KATS_SWU[version #].tgz
file provided to you in your
software page.
7.
Click
Update
and wait for the ASM to update and complete a reboot. Reboot takes approximately 60 seconds.
8.
Return to the ASM’s web user interface and navigate to Settings. Adjust the ASM’s reboot time to an appropriate
local time and day of the week. Ensure that all ASMs are set for the same reboot time. Remember this day and
time to properly set the mTenna Plus reboot time as indicated in
11 Set mTenna Plus reboot time on page 14
,
and inform your Kymeta representative as well as the end-user.
9.
In
Settings

, adjust the Local IP addresses to match the configurations listed the

For the ASMs to be eligible for over-the-air update, you must configure the gateway and the DNS.
10.
Repeat steps 3 – 9 for each ASM. The mTenna Plus and mTenna Select require sequential ASM numbering.

IP addresses for ASMs should be set according to RFC1918:
10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)
