The swimming pool heat pump power supply is in accordance
with the technical data of the device: 1/N/PE ~ 230 V, 50 Hz or
3/N/PE ~ 400 V, 50 Hz.
The heat pump is connected via the terminal strips in the switch
box. For detailed information, see Circuit Diagrams in the Appen-
dix.

General
An air-to-water swimming pool heat pump should not be installed
in the living area of a building. In extreme circumstances, outside
air as cold as -20 °C may pass through the swimming pool heat
pump. This can lead to the formation of condensation in the area
around wall openings and air duct connections in rooms with high
humidity, e.g. kitchens and laundry rooms, eventually resulting in
damage to the building. The formation of condensation cannot
be avoided (evenwith good thermal insulation) if the ambientair
humidity exceeds 50 % and the external temperature is below
0 °C. Therefore, unheated rooms such as cellars, storerooms,
and garages are more suitable installation locations.
ATTENTION!
For a higher degree of sound protection, the air outlet should be over a
90° bend or outdoor installation should be selected.
If the swimming pool heat pump is installed on an upper storey,
the load-bearing capacity of the ceiling should be checked. In-
stallation on a wooden floor is not recommended.
ATTENTION!
If the swimming pool heat pump is installed above inhabited rooms,
constructional measures for solid-borne sound insulation are required.
Air circuit
To ensure efficient and smooth operation, air-to-water swimming
pool heat pumps installed indoors must be supplied with a suffi-
cient air volume flow. This is based primarily on the heat output
of the swimming pool heat pump and lies between 2,500 and
6,000m
3
/h. The minimum dimensions for the air duct must be ob-
served.
To avoid unnecessary drag, the air circuit from the air intake to
the swimming pool heat pump to the air outlet should be as
streamlined as possible.
6.6 Requirements placed on the
installation location
Ventilation
The room in which the heat pump is installed should preferably
be ventilated with outside air so that the relative humidity level re-
mains low and the formation of condensate is avoided. Conden-
sate can form on cold components in particular during start-up of
the system and when the building is being dried out.
ATTENTION!
The swimming pool heat pump must not be operated without appropriate
air circulation because of the risk of injury caused by rotating parts
(ventilator).
6.7 Air intake or air outlet via light
wells
If the wall openings for the air ducting are below ground level, we
recommend routing of the air circuit through streamlining plastic
light wells. A cowling must be installed if the wells are made of
concrete. The light well on the air outlet side should be equipped
with sound-absorbing cladding. Weather-resistant, mineral fibre
sheets with a volume weight of approx 70 kg/m³ or open-cell
foam, e.g. melamine foam, are suitable for this purpose.
Minimum dimensions for the wells, 1,000 x 400 to 1,000 x
650 mm
The transition between the light well and the wall opening
should be sealed
The light well should be covered with a grating (safeguarded
against burglary)
An outlet for condensate must be provided
A wire grating (0.8 cm > mesh size) should be fitted to pre-
vent small animals from entering and leaves from falling in.
Air inlet openings - light well
6.8 Heat pump rain guard
Rain guards act as a visual covering for wall openings above
ground and also protect the air ducting from the effects of the
weather. They are mounted on outside walls and can therefore
be used independent of the type of air circuit. A rain guard (spe-
cial accessory) has been specially developed for swimming pool
heat pumps and features a significantly lower pressure drop than
standard weather guards. It can be used either on the air intake
or the air outlet side.
A wire grating should be fitted between the wall and the rain
guard to prevent small animals from entering and leaves from
falling in. At least 80 % of the grating’s cross section mustbe
open (mesh size > 0.8cm). Measures to safeguard the rain guard
against burglary are to take place on site.
