Notes on disposal
Disposing of the packaging
The transport packaging consists of the following materials:
corrugated cardboard, cardboard, Styrofoam (CFCfree), Polyethylen foil and
wood (untreated).
Do not put these materials in the household rubbish, but ask your local au-
thority to give you the address of the most convenient collection point.
What to do if you happen to have an old applicance
Old appliances contain many materials which can be recycled. For this reason
you should not simply put your old appliance on the rubbish tip, but ask your
local authority how it might be recycled.
Electrical Connection
■
The built-in cooking area must be connected to the mains supply by
a qualified electrician who is authorized to carry out such work.
Both legal wiring regulations and the requirements of your local elec-
tricity supply board must be fully complied with.
■
When connecting the appliance, please provide a device which makes it
possible to isolate the appliance from the mains with a contact gap of at
least 3 mm. Suitable isolating devices are line protecting circuits, cut-outs
and contactors.
■
Both the control unit and the oven must be isolated from the mains during
installation.
– Switch off at the fuse box or remove the fuse.
– Make sure that the multiple pin plug belonging to the hob unit is cor-
rectly inserted into the matching socket of the control unit.
Hints on installation
■
It is absolutely essential that the worktop is aligned horizontally and that a
clean cut is made into it!
■
The clearances between the worktop cut-out and the wall must be the same
as in fig. 2, at the front, at the back and at the sides.
A corner moulding of solid wood may be fitted to the worktop at the back
of the hob unit provided that the minimum clearances are maintained.
For practical reasons the lateral clearance between the hob unit and an ad-
jacent tall cupboard unit must measure at least 300 mm.
■
Make sure that there is sufficient clearance underneath the cut-out. Any fur-
niture battens must be cut away to leave an area which is at least the same
size as the cut-out itself.
■
We recommend a similar set-up to the one shown in fig. 1.
■
Make a point of ensuring that the plastic laminate or wood veneer on your furni-
ture surround has been applied by means of a heat-resistant adhesive (100 °C).
■
The underside of the installed appliance must be protected by a panel which
prevents inadvertent contact with the live parts or connecting leads between
the control unit and the hob unit (see figure 6).
It must not be possible to remove the panel without tools.
■
Any cooker hoods or wall cupboards must have a vertical clearance of at
least 650 mm from the hob unit.
It will be expedient to seal built-in sinks and other built-in appliances in the
worktop in the same way (protection against ingress of water).
Prior to installation and after removal for repair, examine the gasket for pos-
sible damage. The gasket must provide perfect contact on all four sides. Re-
place it if necessary.
In the case of ceramic-tiled worktops it is necessary to provide an additional
seal with the aid of a permanently elastic sealing compound. Such sealing
compound can be purchased as Küppersbusch spare part No. 53 55 69.
– Clean the surfaces to be sealed in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions on the cartridge. Apply the compound in a continuous strip,
pressing it firmly against the gap to be sealed.
– Cut away any surplus sealing compound with a sharp knife and clean
the sealed joint with water.
Installation of glass-ceramic hob units
Using clips makes it easier and quicker for you to install these units. You can
carry out the complete installation work from above.
■
Always lift the cooking surface by holding it at the sides. Do not lift it by
the front bar.
■
Be extremely careful when installing! Do not place or drop any sharp or
pointed tools (screwdrivers etc.) on the glass surface!
■
The glass-ceramic cooking area must have a level and flush bearing. Any
distortion may lead to fracture of the glass panel.
– First of all make a clean cut into the worktop (see figure 2).
– Make sure that the gasket is properly seated. If the worktop surface is
uneven (tiles etc.), remove the gasket strip and seal with a heat resistant
sealing compound.
– Then insert the clips into the worktop cut-out as shown in figures 3 and
4, observing the clearances indicated in fig. 2. It is not necessary to ad-
just the height due to the horizontal stop motion device. If a worktops
should have a thickness of 30 mm or less, the clips must be screwed
down as shown in fig. 5.
– Connect the oven/circuit element and the hob unit.
– Now position the cooking surface on the left as shown in fig. 7, align it
(2) and clip it in (3).
If the worktop cut-out should be a little too large,
it is possible to increase the preliminary spring
tension of the clips by screwing them down.
You only require the enclosed tension el-
ements S if you are fitting the hob unit into
worktops made of granite, marble or sim-
ilar materials. If the worktop is thick, rotate
the tension element in such a way that the
narrower angle grips the underneath of
the worktop.
Granit etc.
