3.3 100BASE-FX Connection
As Port #8 module slot is installed with a 100BASE-FX fiber module, it
can support a connection to a Fast Ethernet network segment through a
fiber optic connection. Normally, a fiber module comes with two fiber
connectors. One labeled Tx is used for transmission. The other one la-
beled Rx is used for reception.

When connecting to a 100BASE-FX device using fiber cable, make sure
the Tx connector of the module is connected to the Rx connector of the
device and Rx connector is connected to the Tx connector of the device.
Three optional fiber modules are available for selection. Refer to Appen-
dix-A for more information.
NOTE: The 100BASE-FX fiber module does not support auto-negotia-
tion function. If Port #8 is set at auto-negotiation mode (DIP switches for
Port #8), the fiber module operates in 100Mbps and half-duplex mode
automatically. Use manual mode for setting full-duplex operation if it is
connected to a Fast Ethernet full-duplex device.
