Adjusting the universal shaft
NOTICE
Changing the tractor
The machine could be damaged if the universal shaft length is not checked when changing
the tractor.
In order to avoid damage to the machine, check universal shaft length every time the
tractor is changed and correct it, if necessary,
NOTICE
Damage to the machine due to swivel range of the universal shaft
Make sure to take into account the swivel range of the universal shaft in all operating states.
Otherwise parts may touch the universal shaft which leads to damages at the tractor and/or
machine.
Ensure there is enough room for the universal shaft to swivel in all operating states
(cornering with maximum steering angle).

Connect the machine to the tractor without a universal shaft.
Move the machine into the shortest universal shaft position. The shortest position is
achieved when the PTO shaft end of the tractor (1) is horizontally on the same level as the
drive journal of the machine (2). This requires the machine to be raised and the dampers to
be retracted.
Securely support the raised machine.
Switch off the tractor, remove the ignition key and take it with you.
Secure the tractor against rolling away.
Disassemble the universal shaft.
Attach the universal shaft half to the overload protection (3) on the machine side.
Attach the other universal shaft half (4) on the tractor side.
Observe the marking on the universal shaft.
When the length has been adjusted, check when driving straight ahead whether the overlap
of the universal shaft is adequate. The overlap must be at least 300 mm.
For further procedure, please refer to the operating instructions of the universal shaft
manufacturer.
