Finally, the top sail is attached. Attach the sail
so that it can be rolled up on the topmast in the
case of strong winds.
Hang an S-hook part 197 on the head of the
sail and fasten the sail on the masthead fitting.
Hang the topsail sheet rope on the clew using
a hook. Lead the sheet rope through the eye in
the yardarm fitting of the gaff sail boom.
Attach the wooden block part 227 and lead the
sheet rope through the block and attach it to
the mast foot on the pin rail.
Attach the downhaul on the tack of the sail and
fasten to the pin rail.
12. Installing the sail winches
12.1 Installing the mainsail winch
The sail winches are not part of the building kit
and have to be purchased separately.
Attach one block part 163 to the traveller using
an eyelet. Hang a 2nd block 163 on the eye-
bolt.
Thread the sheet rope line item 171 through
the deck bushing and wrap it around the winch
drum twice. Use the remote control to set the
winch to completely lowered (sail open) and
insert the drum. Now pull the winch in and
keep the sheet rope tight. Lead the sheet rope
through both blocks and hang on to the boom
on an eye screw 167. To do so, a jib hank item
168 can be tied to the sheet rope so that the
sheet rope can be hung out easily.
