Two-speed gear control
WARNING:
Never change the direction of rotation when the chuck is
rotating. Wait until it has stopped.
WARNING:
T
o prevent gear damage, always allow the chuck to come
to a complete stop before changing the two-speed gear
train.
fig 3
This machine is fitted with a keyless chuck
6
for
greater convenience, a chuck key is not needed to
secure a bit in the chuck. To insert / remove a drill
bit or other accessories, rotate the front sleeve
of chuck jaws sufficiently so as to fit the desired
accessory. Insert the drill bit or other accessory
into the chuck and tighten securely by rotating the
front sleeve in clockwise direction (fig 4).

fig 4
The torque is adjusted by rotating the torque
adjustment ring
4
(fig 3). The torque is greater
when the torque adjustment ring is set on a higher
setting. The torque is less when the torque adjust-
ment ring is set on a lower setting.
Drilling or screwing is adjusted by rotating the
drilling / screwing selector
5
(fig 3).
Make the setting as follows:
1
: Low setting, e.g. small screws, soft mate-
rials.
21
: High setting, e.g. large screws, hard
materials.
: For heavy drilling.
: For impact drilling on masonry.
: For screwing.

WARNING:
Remove the battery pack and set the left / right control to
the locked centre position when installing or removing bits
to prevent accidental starting.
Ensure the piece of work you want to drill into is
firmly anchored in place. Hold the drill in a straight
line with the end of the drill bit. Apply enough pres-
sure to keep the drill bit cutting through the wood.
When drilling through wood with a twist bit it may
over heat if you do not clean any chips and wood
dust out of the flutes (grooves in the drill bit).
Drilling wood
This machine has a two-speed gear control de-
signed for drilling or driving screws at low speeds
(position 1) or high speeds (position 2). A slide
switch
3
is located on top of the drill (fig 3) to select
either low or high speed.
When using the drill in the low speed range
(position 1), the speed will decrease and the
drill will have greater power and torque.
W
hen using the drill in the high speed range
(position 2), the speed will increase and the
drill will have less power and torque.
