4.2 Cover Removal 

The backplane and all peripheral boards are secured to the system inside a cardcage. To access 
these boards, you need to remove the top cover as follows: 

 

 
 

 
 
 
 

 

 
 
 

 
 
 

 
 

 
 
 

 

 
 
 

 
 

 

1.  Power off the system and disconnect the power cable. 
2.  Unscrew the two captive-panel fasteners located at the back of the system.  
3.  Pull back the top cover.  
4.  Lift the back of the cover and pull it out. 

5. 

Refer to the following sections for instructions on how to remove the backplane and 

peripheral boards.

 

 

WARNING 

 

IDE and Power Cables MUST be routed Under any PCI expansion boards installed 

in the system, or Between them.  Under no circumstances may they be routed 
above the PCI expansion boards. Routing cables above expansion boards 

represent a risk of system failure.  Due to limited clearance between PCI 
expansion boards and system cover there is a risk of stripping cable insulation 

thus causing a short between either the cover or PCI expansion board.
