8 – SPECIFIC INFORMATION
SPIN WORK is specifically designed for rock climbing, rescue and
working at heights, complying with the requirements set forth in
standard ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014, and mainly designed to protect
the user from falling objects and brain injuries or skull fractures that
might result.
Important:
- The helmet is designed to absorb the energy of a shock through
the destruction or partial damage of the shell and / or webbings:
replace the helmet even if the damage is not visible.
- The possible change or removal of original components of the pro-
duct can limit its safety features. It is highly recommended that no
modifications or adjustments are made to the equipment to add
further components unless explicitly advised so by the manufactu-
rer in writing.
- Do not modify your helmet and do not apply coatings, adhesives or
solvents different than those supplied by the manufacturer,
- Do not hang up your helmet by the size adjustment device.
Warning: these helmets are not for motorcycle use!
Fig. 1 – Nomenclature and main materials: (A) ABS Shell, (B) Adju-
stable Size System, (C) Buckle, (D) Polypropylene Chinstrap, (E)
Visor Fixing Hole, (F) Head Lamp Clip, (G) Slot For Ear Protectors,
(H) Polycarbonate Head Band System, (I) Polyurethane Inner Pad
-
ding, (J) Inner Polystirene Shell
In order to assure a safe protection, this helmet must be adjusted to
fit the user’s head dimensions. The helmet must be adjusted to fit
the head properly so that it does not rock side to side or move when
the chin strap is locked and the slider is in the correct position based
on the head perimeter. The helmet will only offer the highest level of
protection if this adjustment is done correctly.
To guarantee adequate protection:
1. wear the helmet with the back size adjust system open,
2. lock the size adjust system by rotating the back wheel (fig. 2A),
3. lock the chin strap buckle. A locking “click” must be heard. Tighten
the strap so that the buckle is properly locked (fig. 2B),
4. adjust the chin strap,
5. check the correct position of the helmet and the correct locking of
the systems (buckle and back size adjust system) - Fig. 3.
A perfect and safe adjustment on the head is guaranteed only if the
chin strap is locked and tightened and with a correct adjustment to
the cranial perimeter. The straps must not cover the ears and the
buckle must not touch the chin. The locked chin strap must not exert
pressure on the larynx. The helmet must be adjusted on the head
always in a horizontal position so that it protects the forehead as
well.
Warning: the helmet shall be worn perfectly centred on the
head; it should not move, either backwards, forwards, or late-
rally. The better the helmet adjustment, the higher the level of
safety. It shall always be fastened!
8.1 – Optional accessories
SPIN WORK can be combined with 999.SET.001 headphones (fig.
4), with a headlamp (fig. 5), and with visor 997.056 or 997.046.
How to mount the visor (fig. 6):
a) remove the protective insert of the visor fixing hole (E) from the
shell (A),
b) insert the guides (K) in the shell holes and check that are installed
correctly,
c) install the visor (L) on the guides (K),
d) fasten the 2 fastening disks (M) by means of the screws (N).
9 – PRE AND POST USE CONTROLS
If the product is used under extreme conditions, very high or very
low temperatures, sea water, or if exposed to frequent blows
and shocks due to the fall of stones/ice and if it presents many
scratches, its safety features could be reduced even after a brief
period of use so that the product should be replaced.
This helmet is designed to absorb the energy after an impact.
The absorption of the blow occurs through the partial breaking
or damaging of the shell or the internal part of the helmet. After
a strong impact (blow, fall of stones or ice) the helmet must be
replaced even if it does not present visible damages. The same
applies in the case of deep scratches or if the product gets into
contact with chemicals.
Check and make sure that:
- the shell (A) is not deformed and does not show signs of cracks
or wear,
- textile parts do not show signs of wear, tear or unstitched se-
ams,
- the up/down adjustable size system (B) and the locking system
(C and D) work as described in pictograms No. 2A and 2B,
- the device is suitable for the intended purpose.
