FLYWHEEL HOLDING TOOL
ROCKER ARM/CRANKSHAFT TOOL
A flywheel holding tool can be made out of an old junk
flywheel ring gear and used in place of a strap wrench.
1. Using an abrasive cut-off wheel, cut out a six tooth
segment of ring gear as shown.
2. Grind off any burrs or sharp edges.
3. Invert segment and place it between ignition bosses
on crankcase so tool teeth engage flywheel ring
gear teeth. Bosses will lock tool and flywheel in
position for loosening, tightening, or removing with a
puller.
A spanner wrench to lift rocker arms or turn crankshaft
may be made out of an old junk connecting rod.
1. Find a used connecting rod from a 10 HP or larger
engine. Remove and discard rod cap.
2. Remove studs of a Posi-Lock rod or grind off
aligning steps of a Command rod, so joint surface is
flat.
3. Find a 1 in. long capscrew with correct thread size to
match threads in connecting rod.
4. Use a flat washer with correct I.D. to slip on
capscrew and approximately 1 in. O.D
.
Assemble
capscrew and washer to joint surface of rod.
