SAFETY ADVICE IN CASE OF A COOKING PAN FIRE
Never fill a deep fat frying pan more than 1/3 full of oil, or use a lid. Do not leave
unattended whilst cooking!
IN THE EVENT OF A COOKING PAN FIRE:
1. Turn off the hot plate at the wall socket.
2. Cover the pan with a fire blanket or damp cloth, this will smother the flames and
extinguish the fire.
3. Leave the pan to cool for at least an hour before attempting to move it . Injuries are often
caused by picking up a hot pan and rushing outside with it.
Never use a fire extinguisher to put out a pan fire as the force of the extinguisher could tip
the pan over, spreading the burning fat or oil over a greater area.
NEVER USE WATER TO EXTINGUISH OIL OR FAT PAN FIRES!
GENERAL SAFETY
When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the
risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following:
Do not connect this hot plate to any power
source other than properly grounded ones.
You must not attempt to defeat this safety
feature. This hot plate requires a grounded
power source.
If the surface of the hot plate becomes
cracked, disconnect the appliance from the
power socket and do not use until repaired
by a qualified electrician.
A loose fit between the AC outlet (socket)
and plug may cause overheating and a
distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified
electrician to replace loose or worn outlet.
If the power cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by a qualified electrician or
professional technician in order to avoid a

OPERATION
For the most efficient operation of your hot plate,
the utensils used should not exceed 20cm
diameter (1.5ltr capacity) for the the 19cm plate
or 17cm diameter (1ltr capacity) for the 16cm
plate.
Cooking utensils with a base diameter less than
the diameter of the hot plate should not be used
as heat rising from surrounding surface area will
rise and heat up handles causing a burning
hazard.
Cooking utensils, regardless of their size, should
not project beyond hot plate or intrude into the
area of close proximity of the controls.
Utensils with convex, concave or uneven bottoms
should not be used.
Turn the control knob to the marked position to
achieve the desired temperature.
If using the double hot plate, make sure that the
handles of cooking utensils do not protrude over
the adjacent hot plate.
When not in use, always turn the controls to
‘0’
and disconnect from
the power supply.
Before using your hot plate for the first time, turn the hot plate on to the highest setting for 5 minutes
to condition the protective coating. The hot plate will smoke and smell. After 5 minutes, turn off the
hot plate and disconnect from the power supply. Leave the hot plate to cool down completely then wipe
down with a dry soft cloth before using again. This should be the only time the hot plate is turned on
without a cooking utensil on it.
