I/O
LED indicator displays the status for external control using the RS232 and
GPIO ports (Green = OK; Red = ERROR).
(2)
COM
LED indicator displays the connection status for the Ethernet port
(Green = OK; Red = ERROR).
(3)
STATUS
LED indicates the overall system status (Green = OK; Red = ERROR).
(4)
POWER
connection accepts the included IEC power cable.
(5)
ETHERNET
port can be used to download configuration files and to connect
to external control systems or networks.
(6)
ULTRANET OUT
connection offers proprietary ULTRANET networking
capabilities by using STP cables with RJ45 connectors. ULTRANET allows the
user to transmit unidirectionally up to 16 independent channels of 24-bit
audio. Up to 7 devices can be connected in series on a single ULTRANET cable.
(7)
DANTE
connections offer Dante networking capabilities via dual-redundant
UTP or STP cables with RJ45 connectors. The Dante format offers 64
bi-directional channels of digital audio at 24-bit/48 kHz.
(8)
USB AUDIO
port allows you to stream 2 channels of digital audio to and
from a PC or MAC by using a Type B USB connection.
(9)
OUTPUTS
section offers 6 output channels of balanced analogue audio using
Euroblock connectors.
(10)
RS232
serial port allows you to connect third-party control devices.
(11)
GPIO
port allows you to connect to low-level control inputs or to drive solid
state relays.
(12)
INPUTS
section accepts 10 channels of analogue audio.
Mains power
Each mains inlet should be sourced from its own
separate wall-mounted mains outlet socket.
Otherwise, both mains sources must be suitably
distributed so as to meet local safety regulations.

Balanced inputs.
Male XLR and male ¼" TRS connectors to Euroblock
with the following pinouts: 1/Sleeve = ground; 2/Tip = hot (+);
and 3/Ring = cold (-).
2.
Unbalanced inputs.
Male ¼" TS and RCA connectors to Euroblock with the
following pinouts: Sleeve = cold (-); and Tip = hot (+) Ground connection
should be left floating for unbalanced connections.
3.
Unbalanced stereo to dual balanced inputs.
Male ¼" TRS
connectors to Euroblock with the following pinouts: Sleeve = ground/
cold (-); and Tip = hot (+) Ground connection should be left floating for
unbalanced connections.
4.
Balanced and unbalanced outputs.
Euroblock to female XLR (balanced)
and male RCA (unbalanced) with the following pinouts:
XLR: 1 = ground; 2 = hot (+); and 3 = cold (-) Ground connection should be
left floating for unbalanced connections.
RCA: Sleeve = ground; Tip = hot (+); Ring = not connected.
4. Analogue Audio Connectors
To ensure the correct and reliable operation of the equipment, only high quality balanced, screened, twisted pair audio cable should be used. XLR connector shells
should be of metal construction so that they provide a screen when connected and, where appropriate, they should have Pin 1 connected to the cable screen.
DM8500 uses Euroblock connectors for all analogue audio connections. The following graphics offer guidance for correctly wiring common audio connectors (XLR, ¼",
RCA) to the Euroblock connections.
