BROILING
• For best results, preheat oven with the door closed at 450°F for at least 5 minutes before broiling.
• The oven is designed to broil with the oven door slightly ajar.
• Turn the temperature knob to the desired temperature between 350°F and 450°F as desired for the
optimum broiling temperature for the specific food.
• Turn the function knob to BROIL. Turn the timer control knob past 20 and then turn it to the desired
broiling time up to 60 minutes. The power indicator light will come on while the timer is in use.
• Place the food on the bake pan, crumb tray, or the wire rack in any of the rack positions so long as food
is at least 1 ½ inches from the heating element
• If the food will drip and you are using the wire rack, place the bake pan under the wire rack and make
sure the food does not extend beyond the bake pan/crumb tray so drips do not hit the heating element.
• Insert the food into the oven and close the door so it is slightly ajar.
• Broil the food according to the recipe or package directions and check for doneness at the minimum
suggested broiling time.
• Be sure to use oven mitts or potholders to open the door. Slide the wire rack or pan out using the shelf
handle, oven mitts or potholders.
• Thaw frozen meats first before broiling.
• Trim excess fat from meats and score the edges to prevent the meat from curling.
• Brush foods with a little oil & seasonings before broiling if desired.
• Fish fillets are delicate and should be broiled using the bake pan or crumb tray. There is no need to turn
the fish over during broiling unless you are using thick fillets.
• If you hear a popping sound during broiling you should lower the temperature or lower the food in the
oven.
• Clean oven and bake tray/crumb tray after broiling to prevent a buildup of grease that could cause the
oven to smoke.
