ADJUSTMENTS & OPERATION

ADJUSTING YOUR GRASS TRIMMER

Adjusting Grass Trimmer Head Angle

This grass trimmer comes with a pivoting head which allows you to set the angle of the
head in 4 different predetermined angles. To adjust the head angle, squeeze both head
angle adjustment buttons (A) Fig.8 (one on both sides of housing). Tilt the head (B)
close to the desired angle and release both head angle adjustment buttons. You may
need to slightly tilt the head up or down in order for the locking adjustment buttons to
engage.

OPERATING YOUR GRASS TRIMMER

Refer to the general and specific safety instructions and familiarize yourself with your
grass trimmer before attempting to operate.

This grass trimmer is intended for cutting dry grass only.

Operation of the Foldable Edge Guide/Vegetation Guard

The foldable edge guide/vegetation guard (A) Fig.9 helps keep the cutting lines from
damaging trees, flower beds, walls or fences. When applicable, lower the edge guide
to its horizontal position. When not in use, raise the edge guide to its vertical position.

Operation of the Guide Wheel in Edging Mode

When the grass trimmer is in Edging mode (head swiveled in edging position), the
safety guard has a built-in guide wheel (B) Fig.9. This wheel guide is used to help guide
the grass trimmer along the edges of sidewalks or driveways. Position guide wheel on
the edge of the surface and slowly move the grass trimmer during the cut.

Line-Feed (Automatic and Manual Mechanisms)

During use, the tips of the cutting lines will get shorter due to wear, especially if the
cutting is done along sidewalks or other abrasive surfaces or thick weeds are being cut.
Line feeding can be done automatically or manually.

Automatic Line-feed

- When the grass trimmer switch is released after use, the cutting

lines will lengthen by increments. Once the cutting lines reach the line cutting blade (A)
Fig.10, the cutting lines will be cut to the perfect length for operation.

Manual Line-feed

- To manually increase the length of the cutting lines, first unplug the

extension cord from the power source. Position the grass trimmer upside down or on
its side and press the manual line-feed button (B) Fig.10 as many times as necessary
to lengthen the cutting lines.

Installing a New Double Spool & Line

Warning!

Only use identical replacement 0.065” pre-wound double spool & line (King

mod. KW-135).
1) Unplug the extension cord from the power source.
2) Depress the spool cover tabs (A) Fig.11, lift and remove the spool cover (B) from the

housing.

3) Remove the empty spool (C) from the housing by simply pulling it out. Remove any

dirt and grass from the spool cover and housing.

4) Purchase a new pre-wound double spool & line (2 x 16ft. x 0.065”). It is available as

a replacement accessory, King model KW-135. Place the new spool into the
housing and guide the cutting lines (D) through the eyelets (E) on both sides of the
housing. The cutting lines should protrude 5-1/2” from the eyelets.

5) Align the tabs on the spool cover with the cut outs in the housing. Push the spool

cover onto the housing until it snaps securely into place.
