Intersymbol Interference (ISI) Calibration
Purpose and Method
This procedure is used to calibrate the ISI.
For this purpose, you may use either the EZJIT+ application or the
Histogram on the real-time scope. All jitter components are disabled and
the pattern is set according to the data bit rate. For RBR or HBR, the
pattern is PRBS7 and for HBR2, the pattern is CP2520 (compliance
pattern).
The ISI is measured and averaged over a number of cycles. If the ISI value
is within the ±7.5% (for RBR –2.3%) tolerance of the target value, the
calibration will pass. If it is out of the mentioned range, the calibration will
fail.
The Artek CLE1000-A2 can be used as the ISI Channel. In such a scenario,
the ISI calibration starts by setting a variable ISI value (%) for the Artek
CLE1000-A2, whose measured ISI value on the scope is lower than the
target ISI. Afterwards, the variable ISI value is increased until the
measured ISI is higher than the target value. If the Artek box is not used,
you must adjust the ISI manually using another method.
The ISI Calibration procedure is available for each supported data rate; for
TP2 and TP3; and for Lane0.
