Instrument Setup and Status
IEEE-Common Commands
on page 15 gave a brief introduction to the
IEEE-common commands which can be used with the instruments. This
section gives fuller descriptions of each of these commands.

Description:
The Clear Status (*CLS) command clears the status byte by emptying the error queue and clearing all the event registers
(SESR) including the Data Questionable Event Register, the Standard Event Status Register, the Standard Operation Status
Register and any other registers that are summarized in the status byte.

Description:
The standard Event Status Enable command (*ESE) sets bits in the Standard Event Status Enable Mask (SESEM) that enable
the corresponding bits in the standard event status register (SESR).
The register is cleared:
at power-on,
by sending a value of zero.
The register is not changed by the *CLS command.
