O P E R A T I O N S
Preparation for Operation
1. Set the power selector switch to the correct voltage observing the "arrow" mark
on the plug. The F L - 1 8 0 is factory set to operate on A C 2 4 0 V .
2. Set the control knobs as follows:
R A N G E : 1 %
FUNCTION: W T D
INDICATION: A s desired
L E V E L M O D E , O S C : A s desired.
3. Connect the power cord to the A C outlet and press the A C switch © . The
frequency display @ will light to indicate " 0 0 0 0 " .
The F L - 1 8 0 is now ready for operation.
Note:
When the power is ON, the L E D lamp ( O V E R F L O W / L E V E L MONITOR) ® will
flicker and the meter deflects off the scale.
This is normal and is not an indication that the meter is defective.

Operating Procedures:
Operation of w o w flutter meter
1. Connect the F L - 1 8 0 to the equipment to be tested, such as tape recorder or
turntable.
2. In testing tape recorder, use a w o w flutter test tape, or record and play the sig-
nal of the O S C output terminal (3) . In testing turntable, use a w o w flutter test
record.
Note:
To measure w o w flutter according to J IS, N A B or CCIR standard, use a tape or
record containing 3 kHz of center frequency (3.1 5 kHz for DIN).
3. Plug an A C power cord to A C outlet. Push the pushbutton switch © , and the
4-digit frequency display @ indicates " 0 0 0 0 " . The F L - 1 8 0 is ready for
operation.
